Rules for Shotgun Cutting Down

Hello all,

Heres a qustion for you. If you have a 20 inch shotgun with a 7 round mag on it, if you replaced the barrel with a 12 inch one, what do you do to the magazine? Can you cut it back some how? Wouldn't it be bad to leave it just "out there"?

Is it a mag extension? If so, just remove the extension.

Is 12" even legal? I've seen 14" Grizzlies, but 12" sounds like a gangster piece.
 
It's not a magazine extension. I may consider buying some day in the far future a super short barrel shotgun, but I would prefer to not go Dominion Arms. Any other options folks? 14" is fine, but shorter is nice too.

Fabarm Martial 14"

Video below is not me, but it's a Fabarm 14". Mine has the integrated pistol grip with ghost ring sights similar to the SASS model on Fabarm's website. Shoots very well and has a forward assist spring to make cycling rounds go quicker. It cycles much faster than my Winchester 1300 Defender. I believe that The Shooting Edge carries the Fabarm line.
