Rumors of NZ85 in 7.62x25

Does anyone know where to get replacement grip screws for the NZ85? And I assume CZ grips fit?

Norinco screws are different threads; Canada Ammo may be able to help you out. Yes, they do fit, more or less. The ones I got at a gun show, I had to file them a bit to get them to seat flat. Go slow and take a little at a time, as it did not need much.

I don’t see the attraction to 7.62x25 ..... most of the ranges around here don’t allow it (steel core) and it doesn’t appear to be much cheaper than 9mm when it’s on sale.

It is a screamer of a round. 85gr at 1600 ft/sec would reach out to 100 yrds no problem. A little non-restricted carbine in this calibre would be awesome too. Any of the newer non-corrosive ammo from Norinco, PPU and S&B is jacketed and not steel core. I understand a fair amount of surplus is not steel core either but honestly i have no first hand knowledge.

Agreed that the newer ammo is not much cheaper, if at all than 9mm, but the main criteria doesn't have to be cheap plinking - even though that is the current niche of the cartridge with the wide spread availability of surplus guns and ammo. And if someone wants a cheap plink we always have the 22. I like the cartridge for its ballistics which is why I would like to see it in a 'higher'(?) quality modernized platform.

For a close to 9mm price but you get higher power rounds... what's not to love? ;) Only if 40, 10mm or 45 can be cheaper. Ammo price is what stopping me from buying a 45 1911 or a 357 revolver. I know you can reload but not everyone has the time and space to do reload often.

About five years ago, there was cheap Norinco 45acp for around 35 cents a round .... that would have been the time for a 1911 .... alas, it is no more.

I recently picked up a CZ-75B 2 tone love it came with the crimson trace grips which I swapped out to walnut, and even got a second set of walnut grips for my NZ-85B but they are not even close to fitting, I'm sure with a hr or so of detail sanding I can make them work but just not a drop on swap like the true CZ was, For a Norinco pistol I'm very happy with the overall fit and finish on the one I got and the frame to slide fit is pretty darn slick and racks butter smooth.

My NZ 85B 2 tone had a fair bit of interference between the slide and the frame (most Norincos do); before even taking it to the range, a couple hours of fit and polish with red-lead and a die grinder with 1/2" sanding sleeves provided the relief that was needed. I keep the slide rails lightly lubed with Lithium Die-Makers grease. I know I have stated this elsewhere, but this pistol has a way better trigger, single and double action, than my NP58, and compared to the couple of real Sigs, the NZ 85 is way better trigger wise.

It would be a near perfect platform for the 7.62 x 25 round.
