Easter supper sitting across from my cousin of the same age and who is an avid hunter. He could not understand why I own a military sytled 50 bmg. Target shooting is not in his vocabulary (even though it is in the Olympics) and he informed me more than once that it is too big for hunting. I pretty much kept my mouth shut but I guess he will not get to try it out at the next family reunion.

Hey I am the fat guy in the bib overalls, making nasty comments about Black Guns, and I do it well. Captain Hunting Rifle? Thats mean :redface:

I have seen this sooooooo much, guys who though any thing black was illegal (including mini 14s, including one RCMP officer who wanted to be sure we could legally have one on the shelf), to 'thems killin guns', to an AR15 will just 'slode a deer in its hooves :rolleyes:

Mind you, two points for citing parallax, that ain't an everyday #####ing point.

When people ask me why I need a rifle or handgun like that, I ask them why do we need anything? Why don't we just live in mud huts in the middle of the forest and gather food with our bare hands?

Should tell him its crotchety, ignorant old farts like him that are keeping enough people away from the sport to prevent it from becomming mainstream with his inbred arguments.

Be sure the old bugger knows that he has broken the law more times visa vis speeding and parking violations then you have with your legally owned "assault" rifle.

Then tell him something witty, like "its time for you to phuck off..."

Seriously, I have said this before and I will say it again. If they come for my black rifles and handguns, I will devote all of my energy to seeing that the hunters and benchrest guys lose theirs too. I am not being vindictive, but as Koldt pointed out, those guys have sold us down the river before, and will likely do it again.:mad:
 
What bothers me is, people who have some knowlege of firearms(not much obviously, but some), thinking one gun is more dangerous because of the way it looks. Why is a semiauto ak prohib or the ar restricted reguardless of length? Because it don't look like no huntin gun, thats why. Piss me off.

I couldn't agree more, no stopping until every last trap gun/hunting rifle is destroyed.:mad:

You should have just said, "Nah, it's an attitude like that that gives people like you a bad name."

I never really encounter that in public, like the range, but I have several relatives who are avid, and I mean avid hunters who constantly make remarks about why handguns and blackguns are useless and why do I have them, etc...

Mostly I just laugh and shake my head.
 
when i used to take my "CA"S down to the club I used to get all kinds of attention good and bad mostly good I always offered to let them shoot "what your grandad used in WW2 so you can stand here and shoot" that would usually do it .some of you guys came to a little shoot at the club and we had a blast but did i hear about it from one of the board directors "you sholdn't be allowed to shoot them here it's bad for the clubs image " plus it's not good for the backstop" worst part is he didn't come to me personally he told a friend to talk to me about it also we had posted some pics of our little event which we were asked (and did )remove from my budds web page apparently we didn't ask permission .
 
My favourite answer to the 'What you need these for' when such people refer to my black rifles or handguns, the answer is simple : "I need them as much as you need your 80K$ SUV back in the parking, and your 60 inches plasma TV, or your half-million dollar house"

This usually prove my point quite quickly.
 
Personally I think they should ban all ”military weapons” and weapons based on military guns, like all those evil .303 and Mausers, etc
 
If you're shooting an AR when you hear this crap, simply say what I said when a police person asked me why I was registering my FN. "This is the rifle of the Canadian Forces - as a citizen and able bodied male of the age of majority, I believe it is my responsibility to understand how it works. Have a nice day"
