Weird experience today. Went to zero a couple of rifles and one was wearing a NF 2.5-10x24 w zero stop.
Ruger Gunsite, Leupold rings, using integral bases
Scope that is now on the Gunsite was previously mounted on an AR, cannot recall a problem
Tonight the scope ran out of windage. The scope on needs another 7moa just go get into the adjustment range, nevermind centered in the adjustment range. To put another way, when at right maximum, at 100yds, my POI is still 7 inches right (approx). I need more right adjustment.
So I did a click count on the scope and only have 38 clicks (9 1/2moa), end to end. This does not jive with what NF has on their website.
The scope has an NP-R2 reticle. When I center the scope in its adjustment range (19 clicks), the reticle is approximately one hash over on the horizontal plane.
I rechecked the rings and all looks good and tight. I did remove the rings completely and remount (without removing the scope from the rings) and came up with the same end result.
So what am I missing. It is probably something painfully stupid. The scope looks straight on the action. The rings are good. The scope used to be good. I want to try the scope on another gun but frankly, the lack of adjustment range is a bit of a problem. I counted clicks on another 2.5-10x24s and that one had considerably more adjustment (80+ clicks, which jives with NF's claim of 27 MOA adjustment). EDIT: That one does not have ZERO STOP OR THE WINDAGE LIMITER
I might try a different scope to see if the gun is the problem but if it is, something must be major fubared on the gun (and the lack of adjustment on the NF is still an issue).
