Well after reading about all the resentment with WSS in other posts, I feel I should add my "thumbs up" salute to Russells Sports. They came thru with once again with unbelievable customer service !! With a special Thank-You I might add to Luke who was my on the phone salesman.
I ordered a 10-22T on Monday June 4th and it arrived today about 7 working days ahead of schedule:rockOn:
This is my 2nd gun order with this place and definately not my last.
I initially called WSS for a possible order and the gal I was talking to said they were atleast 2 weeks behind??? Easy enuf, I called Russells and VOILA!!!:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

Hey good on Russels, just wonderin why everyone is so down on WSS, what do you expect for staff making $11/hr? I think we should support any retail outlet that actually puts a few rifles up on the wall for us to look at, go check out your local CDN Tire and see if they have any thing to offer....

So WSS OWNS Russels?
Rather the same guy owns both.

check out your local CDN Tire and see if they have any thing to offer....

Apparently you haven't been to the Canadian Tire on Macleod & Southland in Calgary ... Granted it's the exception, but what a nice collection of rifles & shotguns! Also the only place I've ever seen the Zeiss 72mm scope - $4500!!

Russels really scewed up my order about a year ago.

WSS has been short on things and screwed up my order.

SIR has put my order on BACK order and screwed up my order.

They ALL can make me angry, they can ALL make me happy.

WSS bent over backwards to replace goods that had been damaged on a order just recently. Not even thier fault, as it was clear that the package had been used as a football by Canada post...:p

(But the same people own both now);)

One thing that is worth noting, though: All of the companies process thousands of transactions a day, and most go smoothly, but we are far more likely to see a negative experience posted here than a positive. Mostly because people like to #####, and rarely make posts like "I made an order form WSS/Russels/SIR and it showed up intact, just like planned" because it is just too ordinary. :)

I wonder if the detractors of WSS/RUssels/SIR/etc still shop at the places they hate, and make major purchases, or if they stand thier ground and boycott?

These days I am just as likely to contact Todbartell and have him send me stuff. He will tell me straight away if he has it in stock, if he can get it quickly, if there is a long wait ,etc. :)

I visited both "real" Canadian Tire stores (Kenora and Macleod). It seems one can order almost anything in there, and get it delivered. The guys told me that if I call for something, if they don't have it in stock (even if they don't normally carry it) they will order in righ away. I should try that once.
Too bad they don't have a flyer with whatever they have in stock....

Yes, Canadian Tire on Macleod has a nice selection, even some that you won't find at WSS or Russel's. They admitedly also have some staffing issues and are trying to hire more knowledgeable and older staff, but that is sometimes easier said than done.

Funny thing is I've used Russell's 20X more than WSS but yet WSS has screwed up 5 or 6 times, screwed me trying to get it all sorted out twice, called me a liar and were caught lying themselves on more than one occasion.

Russell's in the maybe 75 orders I've made screwed up once(although there was a screw up inside of a screw up) and made good on it.

Despite the same people who keep sticking up for WSS, their record is well documented on here and the positive to negative ratio seems to be far worse than other large retailers. Even though they are owned by the same people now, they are definitely not run the same. Of couse we can drudge up the excuses but it is what it is.

to do the job they are frikkin paid for......||||?

Ha Ha!!! Very true...But for minimum wage you don't often get highly skilled workers. I pay dishwashers $11-12 an hour, and believe me, I don't expect much except 2 hands and a heartbeat!
:p :D

I'll second the kudos to Luke... dealt with him on the weekend, and all was excellent.

Also, ditto on the collection of guns at the CT on Southland... some REALLY nice pieces in there!

Just like your dates..;) ....badaboom.... Thank you, I will be here all week:rockOn:

I used WSS mail order service the other day for some reloading stuff. They called me a few days later to tell me that some of the stuff I wanted was on backorder, & that they were about 2 weeks behind on orders. I asked the lady why they didn't just post this on their website so I could have ordered from someone else. I just told her to drop the stuff that was backordered & to please just send my order. It arrived about 6 days later. I probably won't order from them again. Has anyone here ordered from SIR or Higginson's?

George

SIR is even worse for out of stock/back ordering, in my experience. Of all the stores I've dealt with, they are the #1 store to tell me that "it's back ordered"

Higginsons gives universally good service and tells you straigth up if they have the goods. I've never been dissapointed by them and I've orderd form them abotu 15 times.

They must have gotten a raise since Easter, I heard 2 workers in WSS in Calgary talking about wages when I was there in March and they said that they made $9.50 per hour. $9.50 per hour in Calgary can't be much more than welfare pays.
