the surplus shops in Russia are full of dewats already . destroying 3million out of the 16million in storage is a joke. the cost alone to store them must be huge. think of all the new tanks.

My gathering of the article is they have about 4 million firearms that are too far gone to be serviceable. They say their are 16 million old guns in total, sounds like they are taking care of the rusty, broken, barely usable pieces that were probably piles of crud during the cold war.

But we will see though. Russia has not one to deny any income form surplus sales in the past.

This all has to do with a United Nations small arms reductions programs. Countries including Canada and Russia destroy their small arms (accountability to the UN) and in the mean time upgrade their obsolete weaponary.

No suprlus RC K98's, Mosins, TT or SKS's have come out of Russia. They were originaly Russian Captured arms but held in satelite (Eastern Block) depo's such as the Ukraine. Sadly this is nothing new and has been going on for a long time.

Well, they may be unserviceable but that doesn't necessarily mean every single part on them are bad. They should be stripped for parts at the very least.
