So we went shooting with a friend last weekend, he got a new 858 N/R and was shooting Russian surplus while I was shooting my 858 and Czech surplus. When I tried his rifle for a few mags I noticed I was getting much better accuracy with the Russian ammo than I was getting with my Czech bees. Does that sound familiar ?

The range report ,, by CGNer Ganderite is a sticky here and well worth the read, very detailed on most of the surplus in use

My brother and I did a similar test one day with our Sks' and several types of surplus ammo. What we found was the Sks is a great gun from 20-40yards with any ammo. After that the groups open right up with all surplus ammo but in our experience the russian surplus ammo seems to be the best.
