Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone on here has a russian Berdan II and is willing to help me out. I'm waiting on one to arrive in the mail, however i do know it is missing the entire rear sight assembly. It has been desoldered from the barrel. My thoughts are to 3d print one out of Steel and reaffix it to the barrel. To do so i'll accurate measurements taken from an original one. I can print the sight base and leaf as well as the slider as 3 separate parts. Overall it shouldn't be too difficult of a project assuming i can get the dimensions. This rifle has an absolutely sublime condition bore, especially for a black powder rifle, and is matching. I suspect it also made a trip to finland at some point as it has sling hangers instead of swivels. Will post photos once it arrives.

I have one and we can give this a try if no one else steps forward, just mind that I have a lot of pans on the fire :)

There are 7 parts to the rear sight (just pulled mine out to check) - base (can probably be 3d printed) leaf (ditto) slider (ditto) pin (probably best to turn one on a lathe or adapt) screw to secure slider (will have to find something) leaf spring (not sure what to do here - try to mod something?) and screw to secure it (again, find something).

Thanks,
The screws and pin i'll likely turn on a lathe, especially if they are somewhat standard threads. I'm thinking i can modify a long lee/ martini rear sight spring, or make onefrom scratch.

I have received the rifle and will post some photos later on, stock has been varnished, but that's easy enough to remove and re oil. cartouches are still present, but somewhat illegible. has an interesting set of sling hangers similar to those seen on Finn mosins. The bore is fantastic, and should make a good shooter. Noticed I'm also missing the very front meal nose cap and screw, so I'll likely be printing that as well. I'll begin drawing up the rough shape for the rear sight parts, and add in the proper dimensions as I receive them.

That's an amazing find, Eternally grateful for that. If I run into an issue I'll be sure to post. In the mean time, here are some photos of my newly acquired one! pardon the lighter stock section, i've started to scrape it down. Slow and tedious, but the proper way to remove the varnish without sanding
