So I'm looking for a well functioning k98 this is intended purely for shooting what do you think.
Also gonna get mosin I was gonna get a lee enfield as well but I think these really are the only ww2 rifles I want for nostalgic reasons.

Cool story Bro. My first rifles I bought were a Mauser, Enfield and mosin.

As for your RC vs Yugo. Either will work for shooters. Definitely take a look before buying. Some are in better condition than others.

Thanks I've been searching around different forums and most people praise the Russain capture but Im honestly gonna refinish the stock and etc so it looks fresh so I'm more conserned with function and how the firearm actually shoots. They from what I've seen from dealers about the same price. If there are any better mosin than others any help would be good I did not do as much reading on the mosin. Also are strip clips easy to come by?

and whats the word with the mitchells rifles? are they any good whats their story

personally i think they sell remarked junk at high prices...do at little bit of research on them and you'll find lots of questionable practices..

You won't be sorry with a Yugo...RC's are an unknown quantity and will be mixmaster guns most likely (ie numbers will not match) You will get a better shooter with the Yugo probably 90% of the time.

RC's are all mixmasters. They're a bit sad IMHO.

The Yugos are in nice shape but have been scrubbed and remarked I believe. I've never owned one because I don't like the changes in original markings.

The hardest thing to find is an original Mauser that hasn't been scrubbed and remarked, Waffen marks peened etc.

They also have the highest and most enduring value to collectors. So finding such a beast may be worth the extra trouble and $.

BTW, OP, if you ever have a chance, try to shoot all 3 types (Enfield, Mosin and K98) and get an impression from it.

The Enfields hold 10 rounds vs 5 and are so so smooth...plus they're what we used.

Get a Yugo and you won't have to refinish the stock, they already have been refinished and they're beautiful. The bores are also prestine condition so they shoot well. An RC in my opinion is a bit more historic because of what is left on it (Factory codes, proof marks, mix serial numbers, etc.) so I would leave it as it is.

Just my opinion

Yeah all in all I want a good shooter so the Yugo is more up my alley I doubt if I had an all original id want to shoot it lots and start to hack it up. I don't think Mitchell's even makes them any more
on the site they are all sold out so I guess I don't have to really worry about that anyway im just looking something in decent shape that shoots well. Thanks for the info guys im new to milsurp guns for sure I've just always had a lot of respect for the old bolt actions. I would like to get and Enfield one day but a kar will probably be the first. Then a mosin etc..

Yugos are better in my opinion generally. Some still partly match as far as serial numbered parts go and the Yugos rebarrelled quite a few so they make great shooters.

Again, get a Yugo and If you can get it from Weimajack it'll be a nice one I can assure you. I know him and he's a really nice guy to deal with. He has incredible feedbacks as well.
