It's a Yugoslav bayonet. " Preduzece 44 " aka ZCZ Kragujevic. Check it over for other markings. Preduzece 44 also recycled Kar98Ks
somebody tell me why the K98 cleaning rod is so short!
Ok, so where are the other 2 hidden on my Mauser? I looked under the rear sight. Nothing. I looked in the magazine. Still nothing. I'm going to check the butt storage compartment....oh wait, there is none.....
What the hell were the Krauts thinking?
Intended that the members of the rifle squad would clean weapons together using the rod sections put together.
Ouch. Definitely not worth that! I picked one of those up about 5 years ago for $15...
The bayonet is probably Yugo. If you compare a K98 bayonet to a Yugo the Yugo has a tapered blade starting about one and a half inches from the crosspiece, and gradually comes to a point. German K98 bayonets don't taper until the last three to four inches from the tip.
Most Mausers were cleaned with the Cleaning Device Model 34.
It comes in a tin and includes a bore brush, and a chamber brush, pull through which is a linked aluminum chain, floorplate takedown tool, and oiler.
In any of the pictures of German soldiers cleaning their Mausers the cleaning rods are still in the guns and the aluminum linked chain in visible.
Good luck!![]()
