Russian Luger

Check out this page. It is some great pics of a Russian Mosin Nagant Lugar for sale at $20,000. The only one I have ever seen offered anywhere.

Its a luger alright, but certainly not a Mosin-Nagant. First Russian Luger I've ever seen/heard of.

No guys... its real! The russians tested the Luger in 1906. Only a few survived the wars.
All seems correct. I have only saw photos in World of Lugers book. Only 2 have been seen outside of Russia. Funny enough for you to loan me 20k to buy and we check it out?

quality is too high for the russians :p

besides, why would russians put dwm on their pistols unless dwm made them or they used german replacement parts...

No No No... DWM made this Luger for Russians and stamped them with all Russian markings before sending it for trials. They made about 500?? and sent them. Like the American Eagle model of same date only those are more common. Where are the Luger collectors when you need one??? Giving out parking tickets!

the most valuable gun (priceless) in the world is a luger(only 1 exists) in .45 acp.

they made 2 for trials in the U.S.--1 was destroyed in testing the other is valued(the last time i heard) @ 2million bucks...

they're making replicas of them...

"they" , who? Now that is a gun i'd be interested in!

a .45 luger, eh? That would be neat. Or if someone wanted to scale the toggle design up and make it in 12 gauge...I'd buy for a goose gun :D

This does make me wonder where all the RC lugers are.

The Holt's Auctioneers catalogue of "Thursday 20th of March 2008", listed; " A FINE & RARE NEDBAL .45 (A.C.P.) 'LUGER' SELF-LOADING PISTOL RECREATION OF THE U.S. TRIALS PISTOL OF 1907, serial no. 3 of 12 ". The estimated price in auction was 4,000 to 5,000 Pounds Sterling.
The 12 pistols were made in Austria, with a write up in the June 1997 issue of Deutsche Waffen Journal.

From "Luger Tips", by Michael Reese, 1976, page 35.

"1906 Russian Contract. The Russian Lugers had their beginnings in Germany sometime after 1906 and before 1914. These contract pieces were made at DWM for sale to Russia's military establishment. This contract piece has a short 4-inch barrel with only the serial number under the barrel. It also has the grip safety and no stock lug. The safety area is marked in Cyrillic characters which are Bulgarian and mean nothing to a Russian. In the Author's personal opinion the frames for these Russian Lugers were the same ones made for the 1906 Bulgarian contract. The Bulgarian contract came early in 1906, DWM probably thought that this order was going to be a big one and made surplus parts. Thus when their order was only around 1000 pieces, many parts remained in stock. When the Russians placed their initial order, DWM probbaly thought that it would be another small order and used her old Bulgarian frames.

A special stamp was produced for their chamber, which is the model 1891 Russian Service Rifle or "Three Line Nagant". They are crossed to form a very impressive crest. The extractor is marked in Russian characters. The Author (Reese) has personally examined Serial No. 747, 193 and 345."

At the time of writing, he had heard of four others but had not examined them. He estimates the number manufactured to be at 1000 or less.
