Russian MFS .223 ammo

All the supliers say it is from Russia.

I have used MFS 223. It works good in my AR, as accurate as I am. No FTF or FTE, in the colder weather, sometimes doesnt hold the bolt open after last shot, but fine until like
-10

Also seems to be pretty clean. IMHO cleaner then American eagle.

It's the only ammo I have used to date in my new Norc. Shoots about 2-2.5 MOA at 100 yards in mine. Seems clean enough.

Steel cased though, so it irritates the brass scroungers at ranges/matches:D.

If I was not going to reload, I would stick with it at least for CQB stuff where ranges are short and the bull is relatively generous.

My only complaints with the 5.56 MFS were that I had four duds in the 450 rds I shot a couple months back. All 4 had solid firing pin strikes on the primers. Shot out of a CSA vz58

I fed 40 rounds of this stuff through my Mini 14. Worked reliably, but it had quite the muzzle flash, and was reasonably accurate.

Good stuff, even better if you like fireballs.

Had quite the muzzle flash.

It's Hungarian. Looking at a rainbow colored box (green, white orange/red) box of it right now .. . The newer stuff now comes in a black & blue box. The ammo was initially produced to Russian specs back in the early cold war days so perhaps that is where the belief comes that it is Russian???

In either case I have used it in various calibers (both pistol and rifle) and have found it to be no better or worse than anything else you can get.

And a clip from the company web site....

" ... The foundations for the operation of the company were laid by Mátravidéki Fémmûvek established in 1952. The company based its production on the conventions of ammunition manufacturing in Hungary..... they started to produce for the civil market in the late 1950's....The policy of MFS Hungarian Ammunition Manufacturing Inc. is to ensure high quality....we constantly update and develop manufacturing technology as well as used basic material and broaden the product range. The ever-wider range of products, our integrity and top quality are the keys to our success, which is reflected in the increase of sales and clientele....."
