Hey all, mine arrived today, just finished cleaning it off. So mine is a 1944 Izhevsk with a after war stock. It has a forced matched magazine plate but other than that its all matching (excluding the stock of course). It also is marked with the Russian hunting marks on the barrel of what ever company sold it off(I believe they called it a KO-44). The rifling is bright and strong on this one and it isn't counter-bored.
Overall I would rate it a good example of a Russian M44, nothing extremely valuable or rare but still a nice piece.

I find my M38 easier to shoot than my M44... That bayonet looks cool, but it isn't light! Buy both!

from a bunch of the videos I've seen about this M38 vs M44 ... the M38 has much less felt recoil. Could be due to the extra weight on the barrel?

I think it always was more expensive because it was specially made for para troopers.

Just got mine. 1944r Stock has seen better days but all numbers matching, we will see how she looks after a good bath!

Got mine today,,, decent condition all matching except the but plate,,, thought that was odd. Couldn't see the date stamp at first,, had to use a light and microscope to find it, even then could just see 194?.... Little pricey, but overall I was happy with the purchase ...
