CARABINE CARE, STORAGE AND CONSERVATION
General provisions
Carabine must be kept always in perfect condition and ready for action. This is achieved by timely and skilful cleaning and lubrication, proper storage carbine, careful handling and timely elimination of breakages and damage.
Clean the rifle located in the subdivision be made:
- After shooting combat or blanks - immediately after shooting immediately on the shooting range (in the field); cleaned and lubricated bore, gas tube, gas piston and bolt; then made cleaning the rifle on his return from the shooting and in the next 3-4 days, every day;
- During the exercises and activities in the field without shooting - on their return after the exercises and activities;
- In a combat situation and longer exercises - every day in periods of calm and fight during breaks in the exercises;
- If the carbine is not in use - at least once a week.
After cleaning, lubricate the carbine. Lubricant applied only to dry and perfectly clean metal surface immediately after cleaning to prevent moisture on the metal.
Cleaning and lubrication of the rifle made under the direct supervision of the squad leader.
The squad leader must: determine the extent necessary disassembly, cleaning and lubrication; check the serviceability of facilities and high quality materials for cleaning; to verify the accuracy and quality of the produced cleaning and give permission for lubrication and assembly; check the correctness of the lubrication and assembly of the carbine.
Officers are required to present periodically to clean the weapons and to check the correctness of its implementation.
At the barracks, or the camp's location in cleaning the rifle is produced in designated areas in the equipped or adapted for this purpose, tables, and in combat or camp setting - on a clean surface, boards, plywood and so on.
For cleaning and lubricating the rifle used:
- Alkaline composition for cleaning the barrel of gunpowder soot and other parts exposed to the action of powder gases;
- Rifle grease for the lubrication of the bore, and parts of the rifle mechanisms after cleaning; This lubricant is applied at an air temperature above + 5 ° C;
- Liquid rifle grease for the lubrication of parts and mechanisms of the rifle when the air temperature from + 5 ° C to minus 50 ° C, and for cleaning the rifle in the winter time (instead of the alkali composition);
- A mixture of grease gun with rifle oil in the ratio of 1: 1 for the lubrication of the barrel, parts and mechanisms, as well as accessories carbine trade-in storage for long term storage;
- Cloth (or paper KV-22) for wiping, cleaning and lubricating the rifle,
- Tow (short flax fiber), purified by boon - only for cleaning.
For ease of cleaning slots, notches and holes can be used wooden sticks.
For thinning and flushing of lubrication, especially after storage carbine and transfer it to the winter lubricant allowed to use kerosene.
After applying the cleaning composition of the alkali or kerosene parts and mechanisms of the rifle should be thoroughly rubbed and oiled.
Clean in the following order:
1) Prepare materialy for cleaning and lubrication.
2) Disassemble the carbine.
3) Inspect the accessory as indicated in Art. 71, and to prepare it for use when cleaning (Fig. 42).
4) Clean the bore. Put the carbine into the recesses table for cleaning weapons or a regular table, and in the absence of a stele to rest the butt of the rifle into the ground or the floor. Fold tow in the form of a figure 8, crosshairs of "eight" lay at the end of the rod wiper and lay fiber tow along the rod rubbing the ends of hemp should be shorter than jag, and the layer thickness must be such that the rubbing with hemp was introduced with a little effort. Soak tow alkaline composition (to pour on a little tow alkaline composition and fingers lightly mash hemp). Enter a ramrod to rub into the bore and to strengthen the canister on the trunk lid (the muzzle cover). With one hand holding the carbine, the other hand holding the canister body, gently rubbing with rags to promote the entire length of the channel of the barrel several times. Remove the ramrod, to change the tow, impregnate it with an alkaline compound, to re-enter into the bore and push repeatedly throughout the length of the channel. So clean the bore several times. After that, remove the cover from the muzzle of the barrel, and clean the muzzle of the barrel to a depth of wiping length. Carefully wipe the squeegee and wipe, wipe dry tow bore and then clean with a dry cloth. Inspect rags and if there are traces of soot (black), rust or dirt, continue cleaning the barrel, and then wipe with a dry cloth and rags.
After cleaning the threaded portion of the barrel in the same order to clean the chamber by the receiver.
After cleaning, carefully inspect the threaded portion of the bore in the light of the muzzle, slowly turning the barrel in his hands, and the chamber breech; check whether a deposit should stay in rifling angles, scraps of cloth or oakum in the barrel.
Remarks:
1. When cleaning wipe with a ramrod stuck in the barrel, put in the bore rifle liquid lubricant and a few minutes to remove the cleaning rod. If wiping with a ramrod does not eject, carbine send in artillery repair shop.
2. To clean the barrel to separate the barrel to the receiver of the box is prohibited,
5) The gas chamber carbine cleaned with a cleaning rod or wooden stick, wrapped with a cloth soaked in an alkaline composition. After cleaning, wipe dry gas chamber and once again wipe cloth and inspect bore, so that it is not left scraps of hemp,
rags or other foreign objects.
6) Clean the gas tube by means of a ramrod rubbing wrapped oiled cloth or rags. If heavily soiled, clean the alkaline composition and wipe dry.
7) of the receiver, bolt, gas piston and a bayonet with a clean cloth soaked in an alkaline composition, and then wipe dry. If cleaning takes place after the shooting, the gas piston and the front portion of the valve cover with an alkaline compound or wrap them for 3-5 minutes with a cloth moistened with an alkaline compound, after which the hardened powder varnish and remove all the surface of the gas piston and dry with a gate,
8) The remaining metal parts wipe dry with a cloth or rags; while very dirty clean them with an alkaline composition and wipe dry.
9) The wooden parts wipe with a dry cloth. Clean winter carbine rifle lubricant liquid to produce the same order as the alkaline composition.
On completion of cleaning the rifle troops report to the commander of the department. Then, with the permission of the squad he makes grease and assemble the rifle.
Lubricate the rifle in the following order.
1) Coat the bore. Screw on the ramrod brush and impregnate it with grease (brush pour on a little grease from the nipples). Enter the brush into the barrel bore from the muzzle and gently move it two - three times over the entire length of the barrel, to evenly coat the bore with a thin layer of grease. The chamber is lubricated with the breech.
In case of failure or absence of their brush to grease the bore by means of wiping with a clean cloth. To do this, soak a small piece of cloth with grease and put it in the middle of the muzzle of the barrel, light pressure on the squeegee wiping rags to enter the bore and promote two - three times the entire length of the barrel. 2) All metal parts and mechanisms to cover by means of oily rags thin layer of grease. Excessive grease promotes contamination of parts and can cause failure of the rifle.
The wooden parts are not lubricated. At the end of the lubricant to collect carbine. When assembling the rifle to pay attention to the numbering of parts in order to prevent any confusion with other parts of rifles; each number on the rifle receiver must match the numbers on the butt, the store, the trigger guard, the gas pipe, backbone and stem gate and on the cover of the receiver.
After assembly, check the operation of the rifle parts and mechanisms, and then show the squad leader.
After cleaning the rifle to clean and lubricate the ring and belonging.
In the cold season, at a temperature of 5 ° C and below, the carbine to grease lubrication only winter. In the transition to the winter lubricant should be carefully removed from the parts of the rifle old grease. If the old (old) grease is not completely removed, the carbine in the cold will not work. To delete a year (storage) lubrication complete disassembly becomes necessary carbine and wash all metal parts in kerosene or liquid rifle grease, carefully remove them old (warehouse) lubrication using a tow and rags, without allowing that the lubricant remains in the groove corners and in other hard to reach places; then a second wash all metal parts of the rifle liquid lubricant and wipe with a clean cloth.
Note. The use of rifle lubricant at temperatures below + 5 ° C, instead of the liquid rifle lubricant is strictly prohibited.
Carabiner, brought from the cold into a warm room, clean 10-20 minutes after it “sweat out”.
It is recommended before entering the warm room outside carbine surface wipe with a cloth soaked in a liquid gun grease.
Carbine going to long term storage needs to be heavily greased with a mixture consisting of 50/50 mix of gun(cannon) and rifle grease. Grease is applied by lowering of clean metal parts of the rifle in a bath with hot grease. After cooling, the parts go through quality control.
Degassing, decontamination and disinfection of rifles manufactured in accordance with the Guidelines for decontamination, decontamination and disinfection of arms, military equipment and vehicles.
