Russian refurb SKS. Whats the deal with the gold coloured bayonet?

I have two apparently unissued Tulas, and both have the gold/brown bayonet. At first I too thought it was some reaction to packing chemicals, but on closer examination it appears deliberate and intended to be permanent.

My money's with b-wingpilot - the finish is intended as camouflage. Remember that this rifle, unlike almost any other, does not have a removable bayonet, so you have to do something about that silver mirror that you're carrying on the end of your gun crying out 'shoot me'.
