mounted the scope on smith mount handtight + 1/12 of a turn with a tool and with blue locktite. after firing maybe 50 rounds ( SA milsurp and Match ammo )a piece broke off hitting me in the head. scope is still mounted fine because of the second half but how long this will last no one knows. this is POSP scope 8x42. will contact the distributor to get a refund, and ill let you know what happened.

just wanted to give you guys a heads up re this scope.

cheers,

Happy.

Well, crap. I was thinking about getting one of these. They look classic and the price is right. I wonder if it is just hit and miss with quality and some of them might last forever or if they are all pretty junky.

no problems with mine.100+ rounds through.Company was excellent with my concerns after they had accepted my money and I had yet to recieve the scope. Answered my emails promptly and predicted it's arrival to the day!.Post marked Bellarusse

That's the rail mounted top mount scope right? I've only seen one in person, but the appearance seemed about average. From what I've heard and read, the side mounts are much more sturdy.

side mount is complicated to use on a m14 which is designed for bolt on scope mounts. regarless, this happened, and i am sure other were going to try this sometime.

I imagine these scopes are like any other company where some do fail. That said the glass on the POSPs is really really nice for the price.

but the adjustment is weird. mine is maxed out to one side and down to be zero for 100meters, and i installed everything correctly, tried twice with same results. other than that its awesome.

Sounds like a mount issue. FYI your mount should be relatively close to zero. Sometimes depending one the rifle the mounts need to be shimmed etc to be installed properly. What kind of mount are you using?

Actually looking at your pic it looks like the scope is installed wrong on the mount. The Russian scopes need a weaver profile with all the appropriate notches in the right spot to install properly. can you post up some more pics of the mounting that show more then the one you posted?

I noticed the same....looks like the recoil bar is on top of the rail, not in the notch...

It is on top. Improperly mounted.
Stuff breaks when you use it incorrectly.

please dont assume when you havent seen it yet. and if you assume please dont post, not much help from people like you.

to everyone else, it is installed in gooves and not on top. see pictures. mount is build in a way that it could only be installed in grooves and it is impossible to install it any other way.

its a smith 2024 mount with a weaver base, and i installed it by the instructions, twice with same results. i might take it to a gunsmith to get permanently adjusted, not a big fan of shims and stuff.

I would install another scope on there and see if the mount is close to zero. If it is then you know its the scope, if not them its the mount.

Keeping in mind I love the m14s it could be the reciever is a bit off as well. Are the irons close to on targer when set to zero?

im real bad with irons, at 100m i can hardly hit a targer. and i dont have another scope i could try. we'll see what happens, if distributor for the scope can exchange the scope for me, it will be a different scope and i'll test the mount that way.

just got this from seller:

The damage has probably happened due to the incorrect scope installation.
Unfortunately, our return/exchange policy is 14 days after a package is
received. After that - the manufacturer's warranty within 1 year.
But if the damage happened due to the incorrect usage you would need to pay for repair and return shipping.

they blame improper install .... that was purchased from:
East Wave optics ( ebay: imagebel )

do you think i should send it back for repair or what ? shipping will be about 50-60 bucks for both ways and also a chance they refuse to fix due to improper install - which is BS !

???

How can it be properly installed if the bars are not fully engaging the grooves? I can clearly see in the all the pictures that they are not fully seated but merely resting at the top of the grooves.

They must fully engage the grooves ( ie be fully seated) in order to do the job of locking the scope to the base.
