Found this scope I think its made for the russian military for the SVD. I'm thinking it would be great for an m14. If its authentic then for $170 and in canada you really can't go wrong.

fixed 8 power???? no good for me.... if it was adjustable from 4 to 12 or somethin but fixed 8 power would be a biatch for quick target aquisition

good thing about this scope is that you dont need rings, one less moving part. and it was designed for 7.62x54r caliber, so i dont think theres much difference in recoil, but i am new, so i could very well be wrong.

M14S isn't like a bolt action rifle. Its has the rearward slam of the action and then the for ward slam as it chambers another round. Two bangs for every pull of the trigger.Do a search or read the sticky. But hey its your money spend it as you wish.

The forum has said over and over...the M305 beats on scopes like they are red headed stepchildren...bargain scopes will not last.

This scope is made for the SVD. Pretty much the russian equivilent of a m14 in caliber and function. In fact almost all 7.62x54 that I have fired is considerably hotter then any 7.62x51 I've had any experaince with. Although the price may be decient I can't imagine the quality being inferior as it is russian milspec and their tools aren't known for being flimsy.

I have one on an SKS and like it. I think it should be pretty rugged as all Russian stuff is built like a tank. It does away with rings as they are built on to the scope which may give rail fitting and eye relief issues as it is not as flexible as separate rings.

i bot a posp 6x24 from eastwave , with side mount and plate $160 shipped, good company (based in ontario ) to deal with . the scope came from belarus in a week and a half , yet to mount it on my cz858 but so far i like it .

The SVD is a semi-auto 7.62x54, not a bolt action. I'd assume it'd be just as nasty as the M14 for kicking the crap outta scopes.

I sent them an email asking about their scopes and recoil and this is what they said:

"Hello Sean,
The figure we have is the following: alloy of the scope can stand recoil loading of 10-12 D.

In addition:
this scope has a military quality and can be easily used with hight recoil military weapons such as AK, SKS, SVD.
Generally, it's OK for barrel energy up to 6000 J.
It will also depend on a type of bullet, it's caliber , etc."

I'm not entirely sure what all that means but like I said earlier if its good enough for the SVD and the russian army then I'm sure it'll be fine on a m14. Heck those guys do pushups on their rifles balancing on the mag. They aren't exactly gentle with their stuff.

hmmmm.... the more i read about this scope...... i jst might have to get one and see if she performs.... can always switch it over to my sks if the m14 doesn't like it.... and yer right... the ruskies build stuff like they build thier tanks.

Go buy one and let us know how it performs. That would really bug our next door neighbors.A chinese clone of their beloved battle rifle topped with a Russki scope. To bad we can't take it down there and compete against them on the range.

they are already pissed at us cos they cant buy a M14S for $400 .

Looks good to me. The scope build for 7.62x54R which is similar to 308 so the scope would hold it and you can use all marking. In addition fixed power would help you in a long run as it would eliminate some mistakes + if you learn how to use adjustments you can do some miracles with it... ;) It's not a hunting scope, learn how to use it.

PS. Price is right too. I'll say it's a good choice.

I think it looks like a pretty good scope!

I'd like to hear feedback from as many people as possible (who own one) before buying it if I was you. Especially from the enormous base of American shooters who would have likely put it through the wringer and then compared it to their other optics.

There is nothing wrong with a fixed power scope; in fact they are generally more durable than a variable power. The U.S. army uses a fixed 10x on their 7.62x51mm rifles IIRC because anything higher usually results in serious mirage and requires a parallax focus.

I used to have a Leupold 3-9x40mm on my .30-06 hunting rifle. I would adjust the power ring in the field by looking through the scope until I arrived at a sight picture that gave me an acceptable field of view with good magnification. I would then check to see where I was on the ring and it was always at 6x.

I bought a Burris 3-9x40mm Ballistic-Plex for my latest hunting rifle, but that was only because they don't make a fixed 6x in that model (that I am aware of.)

Do your homework and then let us know, eh.:)

If they are any good, I'd like to pick one up!:D
