Russian SKS Crate Projects

I turned mine into a display case coffee table with LED lights in it. It looks really sharp, and doubles as a storage for my rifles. Only thing is, it makes me want to fill it now!

I use mine now that I cleaned it out to store my 5 man Canadian bell tent and my M 1950 Yukon stove. It’s a perfect fit and it looks good too.

If I could figure out how to post pics from my phone to here I would upload it, I have a team membership but the pic upload says from a ulr, any ideas? I'm running Android and can seem to find a way to do it.

I got one for free from my local gun store. I use it as accessories storage and looks badass in the man cave just like that. I would leave them stock and sell as is locally.

Think I found it. For some reason I didn't have the option and now I do... weird

Yes I changed the color, the original didn't match anything in my gaming room.

Wow. Looks great! Is that just sanded down and maybe varnished?
Whatever you did its a great centerpeice and i think the best way to store those mil-surp rifles. They have spent so many years in dark crates and warehouses they have earned the chance to be showed off a little.

I agree in that they look great as they are with the military green and all. However, the wife dosent seem as keen on the colour. Ill keep one in the shop as storage "as is" but if one wants to be in the house it needs to be a bit more presentable.

Wood and hardware both sanded down/ repaired. Hardware painted flat black and wood painted to replicate sand/desert army camo. The color is not exact though. Led lights are a bit of pain as the control box is inside the crate. I wanted it this way to keep it air tight. A new rubber seal was added around the lid, to seal it up. Glass is tempered and caulked so drink spills can't drip in. The idea was storage and display long term. Humidity is controlled for now via large humidity packs, but I haven't really needed them.

This is why mine got repainted! It didn't match anything and needed repainted anyway as it was peeling.

Wow. Thats a fair amount of work that you put into it. Looks great though! I like the idea of using it as a somewhat sealed long term storage option. I might have to copy some of your ideas on it.
Thanks for sharing that.
