Russian SKS Finish

These are two examples of why I love hardwood stocks. Plenty of character. The refinish job looks very nice, but its shine gives it away (aside from the cosmo). :)

fyi, that shellac you bought has a limited lifespan. Not sure what's left on yours, but it usually has a lifespan of a year. So use it now and/or let your friends use it before it dies....and always remember, never rush applying a finish. The waiting sucks, but it's needed for a quality job. :)

Good looking. I can't tell is one on the left ours or one on the right?

Al

Actually both are from Westrifle (Thanks!). The one on the right is the one that I stripped and re-finished.

The one on the left still has a zip-tie on the trigger. I realized after taking the photo that this would give it away! You all got it anyway.

These SKSs are addictive.

lol...that's awesome. I didn't even see the zip tie. It was the cosmo caked between the hand guard and fore stock that tipped it off for me.

What about the dry shellac flakes? Will they keep for longer? I only mixed up about 10% of what I bought. So 90% of the flakes are still dry. A little goes a long way with this stuff!

Yes, definitely! Sorry, but I thought you bought the premixed stuff and once mixed, doesn't last all that long. That's one of the dangers of buying premixed shellac at a hardware store that doesn't swap out their inventory. Stay away from dusty cans of finish. :)
