Question: The Russian SKS that are currently on back order from SIR come with a 5 round hinge mag. Can a removable mag be used instead? If so will a tapco or other after marked stock still fit?

Thanks

Sean

One of those ones with the duckbill will. But I ask you why?

All the feedback I've ever heard regarding them is that the original magazine functions the best.

Besides, if you get a good one those rifles are already collector's items. (especially in the States.)

And as a follow up question: what's the story on the Jun 8th shipment to SIR? Is it really happening or is it just some date posted?

Yeah, SIR has them for a good price but past dealings with them led me to order mine from Frontier Taxidermy, at a bit extra.

SIR is DEAD , It's Cabela's now, everything in there is changing big time , they've replaced staff and remodeled the store ....again . and the show goes on , things are improving there big time , they still include the SIR name , but if you call they answer cabela's, they wear Cabela's uniforms now (everyone looks like the croc hunter now) there have been major policy changes for the better , i actually got to return something i bought in there in December , the other day and they took it back no problems, which never would have happened before

Obviously the boat carrying these things has lost engines and is possibly adrift on the high seas - I had pretty well forgotten about the frontier SKS deal until this post.

They are not yet on the boat.
The shipment has to travel through other third party counties before getting onto the ship. This is what is the hold up, as told to me by the importer, Bell.

Re: Sks

I have a couple of friends waiting on the Russian SKSs also. They have them ordered from a gun shop in Trorsby Alberta. When they do come in and I do mean when, they will be getting there's at $189.00 plus shipping and the GST Tax. He did not let them put a deposit down on them because he does not know when they will be in for sure,All he did was take there name and number and he will call them when they arrive.

So I hope they do show some time this summer.

i believe that ... is there a reason why bell dont ship it from the east coast of russia ?

I just got home from SIR/Cabelas and I put down my deposit ($47.00)for a SKS. I was the 608th person on the list. He said that they have 1200 guns on order but that does not mean anything for what they will actually get. The shipment is supposed to be in around June/2008. All I'm doing is praying for a big shipment and not they 100 -250 they usually get.

and the one guy I talked to said 60 on order and 60 more in sept , wonder if anyone there even has a clue as what is what :(

I just got off the phone to reconfirm my order and that I'd get two from the first shipment.

It sounds like they meant 600 incoming and 600 in Sept for a total of 1200 rifles.

Deposits are only for store purchases. Confirmation letters are sent only to those people who are not listed as being aware of the product being on backorder (online orders, I presume) which explains why I did not get one myself.

Those who ordered before the $5 price increase are locked in at the lower price.

Unless there's a registration problem, the store will charge your card and ship the rifles without calling the customer.

The lady also admitted to recieving lots of calls about this item.

Cheers,

Frank
