Lever arms is carrying a batch of russian sks Arsenal referbished .... I am not sure what that means (condition wise).... I have 4 rifles already and would love to have a Russian sks if it was in excellent shape... however if it wasnt I could simply pass.

Arsenal refinished means they were completely are partially re built depending on condition in a Russian state arsenal. They used new, or good condition used parts for the refurbs. The majority of SKS's are arsenal refinished, their is the odd one that is unissued, unrefurb but they are pretty uncommon. Most have new barrels and are in good shape.

SKS's are fun, $500 gets you a rifle and 1120 round of ammunition. They are not target rifles by far, but are good plinkers and are a conversation piece.

Their is a forum where the SKS experts hang out. Its the "Red Rifle" forum. Their are some stickies at the top of the forum that are just about the SKS and are very informative. have a look their and all your questions will have an answer.

Only $350.00 for 1 SKS & 1 (1120 rnd) case of ammo @ Lever

Are the rifles from Lever arms laminate stock?... silver bolt?

They have all types in the display cases. If you don't see one you like check back often as it seems like the contents change weekly. They have laminate and regular wood stocks, black bolts, silver bolts, black bayonets, silver bayonets - all from various years of manufacture.

Haven't come across a 1949 yet though...;)

Do some research as suggested in the Red Rifles forum, and you won't be disappointed when you do buy one. Just a warning though- These rifles are highly addictive, betcha can't buy just one!

Just bought my SKS and 1120 rounds yesterday and took it home right away, $350! Good deal, they have lots to choose from, they have both laminate and wood stocks, I wanted the wood, so I got wood with bright bolt, excellent condition!, they also had black bolts, on a side note, those ammo boxes are SOOOO fun to open lmao, vice grips FTW!

Just curious.... as I am going to order online, and will not be able to view a rifle. What kind of questions should I be asking to ensure that I get the best rifle that I can possibly get.

I would ask if it has any painted parts like barrel or bolt from what I've seen the painted ones don't looks as nice, also there is laminate or birch stocks depending on what you like. If they are refurbs they should all be in good shooting condition.

If you are looking for a SKS as a every day shooter then I would have no problem with mail order. But if you want it as a collectable then I think you have to research the rifle you want and hand pick it yourself. There is some pretty mint Russian refurbs out there as far as looks, they all shoot great. I have had 5 SKS go through my hands this year.

WELL.-

I still have on hand, 2 "Unissiued - Unrefurb - Unfired" Russian SKS on hand.

Both are dated 1952.

Not cheap, but, you don't have to order a dozen from different sources to find a nice one. ;)

Both have some light handling marks.

I see your In Kimberley BC, Mountain Man in Cranbrook MIGHT Have some SKS's in stock, they did a while ago. ABCO Pawn Brokers In Cranbrook MIGHT also have some, but I don't remember seeing any last time I was in. Both tend to price their stuff a little high, but Last SKS I saw at Mountain man was priced pretty decently, still higher but not too too bad. 15 min drive seems a little better then a 10 hour one lol.
