Izhmash is the factory the “Izzy” was made at ..... fewer SKS were made at this factory and the quality is, by some, considered to be better too. Most SKS were made at the Tula factory. There will be markings indicating this information on the rifle.

Probably a sticky about the SKS in the Milsurp section on here and YouTube and google can answer questions too.

Isn't the arsenal Ishevsk (sp?), whereas Izhmash was the retail arm of said arsenal? (I know, a bit nitpicky, but it's good to get these sorts of things straight)
