Russian sks spring loaded firing pin

Hey there, A buddy of mine ordered a Russian sks from the Lever Arms deal about a month ago. He took it to the range fired it and brought it by my place. I showed him how to do a field strip on it and I was very suprised to see that it had a spring loaded firing pin in it. Did the Russians do this? Ive never seen one stock in an sks before .... any ideas? The only thing I can think of it was a mod that was either bought by Lever or returned to them?

The early ones; 1949 to early 1951 were manufactured with the firing pin springs. They were dropped after early 1951.

What year was it? IIRC the Russians switched over to a non spring loaded pin sometime in 1950-51.

Ealier ones had it from what I've read. Don't know which years though.

Yup my 50 Tula has one. The rare ones are the refurbs with both a spring firing pin and a chrome barrel. That's what I'm currently on the hunt for.
