Hi guys,
Here is a Tula/ Russian SKS in original CHOATE FOLDING STOCK.

PROS:
1. handle and the stock is one whole piece, unlike ATI
2. unlike new Archangel stock, this one folds nicely, which really shortens the length
3. unlike Archangel stock it has a nice place for the knife
4. it fits the gun tightly w/o any fitting required
5. price can be very attractive 75USD or lower
6. unlike Archangel it has readily accessible bolt for field strip

CONS:
1. hard to find
2. the gas cover may be missing from second hand sources, so you may need to sand and coat yours black
3. the cheek rest requires another bolt, since original one breaks, which is not a big deal really, some people even take the cheek rest off
4. missing Picatinny rails
5. not convenient handle sling attachment, no QDs

Overall score:
8/10

"4. missing Picatinny rails"

I think that should be in the Pro section. Makes it harder to clutter up the rifle with framistats.

I would appreciate one rail in the bottom, for sure. just to have one for the hand grip/ bipod/ light etc.
It is nice when they give the rail capability, but I can choose not to use them :)

Just a side note for you. These types of posts are preferred in the Red Rifle section, rather than the Milsurp section. Milsurp is really meant for original configuration or sporters people are trying to identify/restore. This type of thing here is actually the opposite of what most people on this section want to see (and you will likely see a better response from the Red Rifle people as well). Many people on this sub-forum have dedicated many hours to restoring and fixing Milsurps back to there original configuration because of things like this.

I understand its your firearm and you can do with it what you want, I just ask that you please post it in the Red Rifle section instead. I am personally ok with any mod that isn't permanent, like your stock as it is just a matter of putting the original back on it.

I used to have a stock like this I loved it, back then it drew a crowd lmao!
But it eventually got loose after many thousands of shells. Lol

I have no idea how to move this topic to the correct/ more advisable discussion branch though. will need help from moderator/ admin
