thanks G , then most russian are chromed line even your production year bcos most russian has been refurbished and that include changing the barrel.

so when are you gonna post some pics of your 1950 russian sks? some close up of the front gas block and bayo handle would be appreciated.

My 1950 Russian ( Tula arsenal) also was refurbished in some way because the refurb marking is stamped on the stock and receiver cover, though I am guessing since mine is not chromed they did not replace the barrel, and the stock is hardwood not laminated and does not have a second cross bolt behind the trigger group like the refurbed ones seem to have. As you can see in the pics all the metal finishing is black parkerized except the blade which also is a sign of being a refurb. One neat thing about the 1950 yr. production is that it uses a spring loaded firing pin which I have not seen on other models.

Here are the pic's you asked for...

1950 carbines are somewhat scarce. The definitive SKS pattern was not set until 1951. 1950s will be found with both the early bolt (as shown in this thread)with the spring loaded pin and the second pattern bolt with floating pin. My own late 1950 has the late bolt/pin combination as well as an unchromed bore.

yes, indeed you two got somewhat scarce russian SKSs and there is only one production year (1949) that is super rarer .

i just read that the chrome was intro in 1951 so that went on for 5 years in tula . plus 2 years at izhevsh factory so therefore non chrome barrel are pretty scarce.

thanks for the pic G, very nice. what i was specifically looking for was the front of your gas tube , its different than mine, yours has a straight 45* angle. , mine has wave.
