Ok now I am curious: The SKS-D seems to be more expensive than others. Is it one of the ones with better steel? I just ordered one of the refurbs, partly based on this article: http://www.simonov.net/uberrussian.htm. If at the end of the day they are basically equal I 'll just wait (for ever it seems) for the Russian.
cant compare apples to oranges.
SKS-D are different to other SKSs , its claim to fame is it takes an AK mag and people are willing to part with more of their money for the cooooool look.

i havent noticed any difference in the steel but the russian SKS45 are far superior in workmenship than the norinco and same to the early chinese (with the exception of wood).
