Russian SKS45: ID FAQ Collectibles .... update feb 8th, 2011

Here is another example of an early 50 with a spike bayonet. I bought this rifle back in 2017. The first letter on s/n was stamped with the wrong letter, had some rust pitting and came with a laminate stock. But it had a spike bayonet. What it differs from the above early 50 is that it had a 90-degree gas block.

On my last post (#180) on page 9, there is one unique feature that is different from other early SKS's. Now we all know that the bolt and carrier
have S/N's matching the rifle. But few know that early SKS's had their bolt and carrier stamped with matching numbers.
In the post #180, the bolt and carrier have a Q engraved instead. No idea why. The rifle involved is my 1950 with a spike bayonet. ИМ 3
The first album shows the Q on the bolt and carrier. The following album is what is normally stamped.
