Russian SKS45 long thread.

woohoo... finally had the time to completely strip and buff up the stock with furniture polish. Looks beautiful. I'll post pics later.

TEASE!!!

Cheers
Jay

lol.. yeah. I don't really have the lighting conditions to take nice ones. All I got is indoor light... so I'll have to use the flash. I wanna make these artistic... so this light doesn't cut it. haha

I'm pretty surprised at how easy it was to strip this thing down.. no problems. Taking the bolt assembly apart was probably the trickiest part, and it wasn't that bad... I'm kinda worried about how I hammered the retention pin in with the firing pin inside, are those things easy to break?
Other than it... it was pretty smooth. Oiled everything that was metal on metal... left the Gas piston and chamber bone dry, then spent like half an hour buffing the stock. Then I think I just stared at it for another hour after that. hahaha. lol. Can't wait to shoot this thing.

do you really think 30 people can view this thread 93,000 times?

yeah I'm sure there are more lurkers like me about.

Hi everyone! I have been following this thread since March08 and enjoyed the entertainment. This is my first post, I guess it was high time to step out from the shadows.

I have an SKS ordered from SIR and am looking forward to hopefully getting one of these... one day. Got the crate of ammo already and nothing to use it in. My dad has a couple of Norincos so I'm hoping to one up him with a real ruskie ;) for cheap! :D I'm in no rush, they'll get here when they get here.

OK who am I kidding? I'm going batty here with this crate of ammo and no SKS. If I don't get it soon I'll have to machine a little cannon out of some steel pipe to shoot these things off in or just put them in a vice and hit with hammer  I NEED HELP!

Back to the saga that is this thread...

nice that you made your first post here.

it wouldnt be long before SIR start to ship our SKS to us.

there is no comparison between the russian to the late model norinco, you'll like it .

Yeah.. can't wait till the Frontier shipment finally gets to my doorstep.
I wanna see what an unissued looks like compared to a refurb.
I'm starting to be pretty sure my unissued was unfired from when I cracked it open.. kinda lucky.
"Unfired" being only tested.

take a peek at rchmontreal's 53 tula thread , he has pics of his unissued , see if yours is the same .

note : close up pics are the best to see details.

Yep... Looks the same to me. Every part has a matching serial number on mine as well just like his does. We both seem to have that brownish-yellowish stain on the bayo as well.
Only difference being his stock is just a little bit in better condition than mine.

I haven't spent the time to read much of this thread, but figured a few others may be interested. I just got off the phone with frontier and they told me that this Friday and Saturday the rifles should begin to ship (Jan.16&17th)

Does anyone know if the BELL shipment will come with a cleaning kit, and sling?

In the picture of the SKS's in the crate there is a mag pouch and sling in the bottom.
