Here are the Photos

1953 Tula all matching no forced stamps

P1260115-1.jpg

P1260116-1.jpg

there are several marks that I am not sure what they are
first is beside the serial number it looks to be a M in a triangle, the wood also has several stamps under there

P1260111-1.jpg

underside of the grip has several stamps.

I don't know if any of the wood marks are refurb but the metal does not have any unless the M in the triangle is one.

I think I will save this one and shoot the forced matched one...

That's mighty pretty. I hope mine is nice too.... It is on the road as of 7:47 am. I hope it's both gun and ammo. I will be pissed if it's just the ammo. Wouldn't that be f*%$ed????

Received CP notification email last Wed.. Status is still unchanged, "Item accepted at the Post Office ". That's 6 days if you count the weekend! Great service CP! I'm getting 1 hand select, & 1 shooter. Keeping my fingers crossed that the hand select will be all #'s matching. If it's electro-penciled, it will hit the EE in record time.

Well my door bell just rang after sending this message. Anyone want to guess who it was?

This thread has become "SKS Baby Photos" and I love it. It would be interesting to create a 'CGN / SKS Family Tree' - I've seen lots of my twin's 1953r Tula siblings on here and they all appear to be matching & non-refurb - I wonder what their (his)tory is?

I'm also beginning to think 'shooter grade' vs. 'hand-select' may have been relative to which crates were open on the day stuff shipped...

I couldn't be happier with the two 53's I have... On first inspection I can't tell if they've ever been fired (but after reading what to look for above I will go back over them with a fine tooth comb today looking for some of the indicators - I did notice some minimal wear on the hammers but that may even have been me dry firing them...)

Can someone remind me - what is the significance of a shiny bayo vs. the 'gold' color (which I assume is some rust-protection treatment?) - unless I'm mis-reading posts above it sounds like people are correlating shiny bayo with original as issued... but mine have the gold bayo and otherwise appear to be non-refurb.

I'm not gonna get my baby until Friday. I weep tears of sadness each and every night and will continue to do so until she has found her new home.

Snivel....fart... tear.

1955/56??

Just got mine today. Theres no date on the cover so I'm guessing 1955/66. I'm thinking late 1955 since the stock dosent look laminated.

Theres no star on the side of the receiver though? There are the 2 refurb marks on the cover (the diamond and the square with a bar).

As far as I can tell its only the Mag cover. One number is crossed out with a new one stamped just above.

The Barrel muzzle has a shinny ring. Is that good or bad ?? Could it have been replaced?

The from site has a 2 so it not a "snipper grade".

Over all I'm verry happy with what I got. If I had the money I be tempeted to get an other one.

As you can tell from my post .Yes I'm a novice. I already have a Norico paratrooper so I already know how to take most of it apart.

Shiny bayo is an original, dull bayo has been beed blasted, and a gold bayo is Gold plated = rare. Do not remove gold plating.
