Russian SKS45 long thread.

I have a couple extras, any takers...lol:p

Whether I keep them all or sell most of them off, who knows. They have hit this country with a vengeance and I have quite a few older guns that I want keep in my collection along with some nice old SKS' as well. Some of these SKS' I want to restore and I have a laminated one that I want to strip the stock and linspeed oil it, sand blast the paint off of the barrel and gun cote it stainless. How many is too many? I will let you know when the government won't let me buy any more...

Woodbeef, do you want the 55?
----- Very well said , gommee, ---- I feel about the same, --- been buying them up for years, and have More than I care to mention here, nor have I ever lost any money on any, that I have bought over the years !! --- I just wished that I had bought More years ago, when I had the chance, --- But I,m glad that I bought the ones that I did !!! ----- And just plan to continue addng to the Collection !!!!!

I picked up the sight adjustment tool from Tradex and I'll be darned if I can figure out how to use it to adjust the windage - there just doesn't seem to be a way to get the tool lined up. Anyone else have similar issues... or am I missing something?

Thanks -

I will have a look at it tonight when I get home. Seems to me, you have to go at it from the top, but I will confirm.

Thanks - The U-shaped milled out area in mine was not deep enough to be able to come at it from the top (... or the sight cover is too high ;)

Trying to do it from any other angle (front/rear) and you cannot line the 'receiving hole' up with the windage pin... it is pushed to cover it by the rounded site cover.

I'll take a photo - it'll make more sense.

Cheers.

i've got one of those sight tools.afaik,it's front or back, not on top.they aren't perfect and require a bit of fiddlin' about to get them to align.if you have a painted sks then the sight is pretty tight in there...

Are you kidding me? 451 pages of posts to the same topic? None of this was unrelated to buying Russian SKSs at SIR? Wow. That is impressive.

SIR Order

I emailed SIR and here is the reply:
Your purchase price is still $169 when they do come in. At this time, they have not yet arrived, and there is no exact date of when they will be arriving. We have not deleted your order, so you won't have to worry. Once the rifles do come in, we will ship yours out. Have a great day.

I got the same response 6 MONTHS AGO
LOL

A call is better than an email. It will usually give them a kick in the butt.

It looks like those still waiting for SIR can have their pick on the EE. Not quite as cheap, but eliminates the waiting. It seems like a lot of small dealers are getting them and moving them faster than SIR. With that said, I have found some other dealers that have them but are waiting for the mags to come back pinned. Bell and IZH must be busy pinning or they are just slow.

Took my x2 '53s out for the first time on Saturday. First time ever firing any SKS and I was very impressed - accuracy with open sights at 100m was better than I'd expected based on everything I'd read (expectations set low I guess ;)

Unfortunately 1 of the two seemed to have an issue with light primer strikes (5%?) vs. no misfires with the other. Preliminary reading seems to suggest a number of possible issues could be root cause, so I've got some investigative troubleshooting ahead. I'll add that it was -28 so it may have been a factor of the cold vs. some left over gunk/cosmoline somewhere...

All in all, very happy with these.
