I just got off the phone with SIR... The girl confirmed my order, told me that they have 600 rifles coming (which were all spoken for) and that they had "back orders" for another almost 400... She couldn't say if I was going to get one for sure as I am somewhere in that back ordered bunch... Pretty bummed out at the moment...

i would not be surprise if they sold all 1000 .

I ordered my SKS from frontier in Jan and it driving me crazy. Marlin sent me an email in Febuary saying they were delayed till April and his site still says "coming late April". Are they actually going to get here finally?!. I hope so, it also states there are 107 rifles remaining. I ordered mine from frontier right before SIR posted their's but i'm not cancelling my order with Marlin.

I ordered mine from frontier right before SIR posted their's but i'm not cancelling my order with Marlin.

Hmmm those are the best ones that I know of. You can always download and study the SKS manuals from this site, but its nothing you already do not know.

thanks G , but not what i was looking for, im more into sks45 production changes , different types of parts made (and when) . i guess its gonna be tuff to get those info cos it was state secret back then.
how times have changed , during the cold war you couldnt even hold camera near an arms factory and now you can probably get a tour.

at this stage , you shouldnt cancel your order with frontier cos you have a better chance of getting one from them then SIR .
i can see another wave rushing to buy , once the spectators hears from us what shape our russian sks are in.

cant afford to have my own site after i spend my retirement fund to collect all the russian SKS variants ,
but i can have a thread that dedicates to the russian SKS , similiar to deckard's faq vz58 , thats my plan.Well, I broke down and bought one from Frontier... They guaranteed me a rifle, unless the whole deal falls through, they don't have a back ordered list, yet... I couldn't handle the stress of not knowing if SIR would come through for me or not...
Curtton is officially on my sh1t list, ha ha ha, at least he is the one I will officially blame when my wife asks why I need two of these Russians!!!

i was wondering how many SKS45 can fit into one 20' container?
i read the volume is 1150 square feet , and i assume one 10 rifle wood box crate occupies 8sf= 4'x2'x1' so say 1100 sf/8 x10= 1375 sks . if SIR gets their fill of 1000 then there wont be enuf to go around to other dealers, somebody gonna get shorted.

Well, I just cancelled my order I had with SIR. Unfortunately my financial situation has changed and the responsible thing to do would not buy any more guns for a while until I get a bit more disposable cash. I have to choose between a new rifle or putting food on the table and we all know you can't put food on the table with a new rifle.....Oh wait a minute....yes you can .
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy your new russian SKS's and please, please don't all come back saying what fantastic rifles you got and how perfectly they all shoot etc. etc. etc.....

Hey I know how ya feel ..... being broke and wanting something really sucks, trust me I know, child support is expensive . I'm always broke.
I bought my first Chinese SKS from Curton ......... then I bought a Russian, and even though I am broke after gettin that damM14, I am still thinkin of getting another Russian since they are such a Great price right now. As long as I have $$$ to get the kids what they need, I myself will eat macaronni for a month to buy a Russian at that price lol Thank god for venison in my freezer.
So now that I think of it ...... its Curttons fault that I been spending money TOO !!!!!!!!! He started me on my first SKS LOL Lucky for you T, that I no longer have a wife to get mad at you LOL

Hey I phoned SIR today and ordered one im in ive got a norinco but wanted a russian one for 165 its a deal she told me the were russian and that they had orderd 600 hundred and I was in the 300 rds so hopefuly all goes good im keeping my fingers crossed

Hey Slipp, the girl @ SIR told me that the initial 600 were "spoken for", and that they were "back ordered" into the 300's... If that's true, then we are NOT guaranteed a rifle, unless they can source more stock. I have no idea if that's what SIR has in the works, I sure hope it is. Otherwise there will be alot of disappointed guys on the backorder list, me included... My "ace in the hole" is frontier... yehaa!!!
