Russian SKS45 long thread.

i just called Milarm, they said that ALL the Russian SKS rifles they have, have had the laminate stock drilled at the pistol grip and a steel pin installed...

Was this STANDARD practice for the refurbished rifles? They did send me one pic and that's when I noticed what looked like a "blob" of grease in the pistol grip area and asked the question...

Curtton??? Anyone??? I might pick two of them up, but I think the pin being installed there is kinda ugly...

Cheers
Jay

Russians did that a lot to prevent stock from cracking . My SVT40 is the same .

It's a reinforcement bolt and is part of the design of the laminate stock. Also found on Mosin laminate stocks.

Used as both a repair and preventative modification on SVTs.

Wow, this thread is a bit like a train wreck - you don't want to look, but still keep coming back! Now, you folks went and made me paranoid - I have been on the list for a hand select since December 2007, so it has indeed been a long wait!!!

I talked to Marlin this week (man, I wonder how many calls they have received!!!) and he said the hand select guns all had unpainted, shiny bolt carriers, but they were not pristine mint collectors items.

Now, today, I see some have the tracking numbers, but alas, I don't - of course, what do I do - I called again! Turns out they are doing up the labels electronically, so the guns will not be shipped until Monday (as someone pointed out) - they also said they were working their way down the list alphabetically, so don't fret if you have not received an email yet...

P.S. Jason @ Milarm was VERY helpful, sent pics of the rifle, answered questions, and took the time to pic out two of the best rifles with laminate stocks. Good service IMHO!!!
