Russian SKS45 long thread.

I got my confirmation e mail from can post on friday. Still at the sortation plant though so probably a few more days. Credit card was billed also:)

YAY my 100th post, took me 5 years but slowly:)

same here,fry.
i guess we'll get some good news monday.
on another note,CGN has been screwing up lately--database errors and slow
page changes...

The "Diva of Derby" has returned!!! Went to the river with my buddies. Shot and shot and shot. I didn't bring the SKS, just the 10/22 and my shotty. What fun. I wanna go again already!!!

Do you mind me asking, what are you getting for $483? My VISA was charged $514 today and my order was for 1 hand select/1 shooter grade and I'm a hell of a lot closer to PA than you!!

Well, I wrote them a personal message saying that I'm an orphan that has no money and is waiting for an urgent limb transplant, but loves russian firearms (especially hand-select mint SKS's) so much that it would make my rotten & no good life so much happier for once. I told them that I only have $483 and that the rest of my cash is for the transplant, without which I'd surely die in total agony and misery.

It touched Marlin so much that he cried for many hours... Then he sent me a reply saying that Frontier would cover the rest and has even sent me some extra ammo (free of charge, of course), extra mags & pouches and a 'we hope you get well soon' card to alleviate my pain and misery. Hmm... :onCrack:

Seriously though, I am getting 2 regular rifles at 229$. I don't need any of those fancy-pantsy hand select unissued stuff - those things don't even classify as collectors' items for me, since they were never actually put into service anywhere. Unissued hand selects are for wussies! :p :stirthepot2:

In order to prevent the wussification of our esteemed forum members with mint unissued Soviet SKS's, I officially identify myself as a WUSSY. Any member who receives a carbine in that condition can contact me by PM, and I'll gladly accept your SKS, thus maintaining and preserving your status as a refurb SKS he-man :D

Seriously though, none of these refurbs come with any history whatsoever. It may have been used by Motorized Rifle Conscript Ivan Ivanavich during his training at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka. Or it was shouldered by Boris Troshchinsky of the Voyennizirovannaya Okbrana (Militarized Guard) while watching a port facility in Vladivostock.

These carbines were never used in war by the Soviet Union, were quickly replaced by the AK 47, and used for some time by second line units until enough Kalashnikovs were produced. They were given away for decades as military assistance to a variety of third world nations requesting Soviet equipment.

That's where most of them saw any real field service. Wars in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Thread's kinda slow today. Wonder if it's cause the Diva of the Derby is absent? I wonder how many Ladies out there have Their own SKS?

Finally a couple posts about SKS’s.
Enough of this chat room crap, it’s ruining this thread.
Your opinions may vary.

Could be that after 2751 posts that people have not much more to say....

So, who cares? I just want a great condition Russian SKS to add to the collection. I don't care if it fought hordes of enemies or if it was used to guard Oprah's bucket of chicken.

I want one and am trying patiently to wait :)

My credit card has been billed but no CanPost notice. I don't think CanPost carries explosives. I suspect that Frontier is using CanPost for Guns Only and anohter carrier for Guns/Ammo?? Does this hold water? Everyone with a CanPost notice - did you order ammo with your russian?

95% of the hand selects are all matching numbers, please keep in mind that these are $250.00 surplus russian rifles, not $2500.00 Custom German Blauser rifles. We will do what we can to get the best for those who requested it.

Hey as long as it works fine, I'm happy. I'm not an expert or collector so
I dont care that much for mactching part. I just want the parts to work!

I'm still just learning how to shoot.

It's Ending!

Folks,
This thread is almost a year old and it has gone from a sharing of information to a soap opera. It looks like most of the SKSs are in the mail and my order, along with yours, will be "home" this week. Figure in a couple of days of cosomoline removal and we should have range reports all over the place. Then what? Who can predict the next frenzy? How about Cooey .22 rifles?

Just kidding - I hope everyone enjoys their new toys, we have waited long enough.
Geoff

(OVER ! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl harbor , Hell no & it ain't over now ! )

Don't forget there is a shipment of Norinco M4 carbines somewhere coming to Canada !! All we need is some dealer to announce there pending arrival at a super price & we can start a new thread . I'm sure it will be filled with delays & misinformation just like this one . But if the end result is the same I'll have a couple M4's
LOL
