Russian SKS45 long thread.

---- Yah, Know gommee, ----- I kinda think so, --- its a refurb for sure, But not too bad, was hoping for unissued, But what can I say, ---- right now I,m thinking its a shooter, but I may change my mind again,--- I had so much grief with a Ammo issue for two days, but I can,t comment on that , until its resolved  Just another page in this " Book " we are writing !!!!! ---- but will let you know what happens when the Smoke Clears !!!! :)

I want an unissued keeper as well, that is why I ordered another from MovingTarget.
Send me a PM about ammo issue.

Thanks guys! I did not break the staking yet...
But like you guys said, I will read the instructions; didn't have any troubles taking it apart, but the barrel and receiver but now it's easy.
Stock: hmmm I will post some close ups tomorrow, it is pretty rough and peeled off in a few places. I shall see, and I appreciate your input.

Cross bolt DOES NOT get removed to take barrel action out of stock! Once the trigger guard and magazine are removed, unfold the bayonet and remove the cleaning rod. Then push barreled action out of the stock. Some can be quite tough to move as the cosmoline has turned damn near into a glue. DO NOT remove or unscrew crossbolt! Your stock is not laminate. Your Izzy stock is bloody rare... may want to reconsider the planned refinish job.

Good afternoon. We are still waiting for the arrival of the SKS rifles. Your price is still locked on the cheaper amount, and you will not have to worry about paying more. It doesn't say when exactly these rifles will be arriving. We are very sorry for the delay, and we thank you for your patience. please don't hesitate to call our customer service line if you have any further questions or concerns regarding your order. Have a good day.

This looks promising - thought I'd share the good news.

So do I conclude my order from last year is locked in at the old price, but anyone placing a new order will pay the new price?

wtf? so they are gonna be $250+ from sir now??

Do not get too excited yet. There has been reports of them keeping their regular price for those that ordered originally to $214.99 to what you have posted $250

The guy at SIR/Cabellas told some-one not to post any info on arrivals and price, because they do not know until they arrive.

There has been so much speculation, don't fly off the handle until you got a grip.

It was in part due to the request from Cabela's wrt to CGN users 'confirming their information before posting' that I added the quoted email response above.

Got mine today (finally). 1954 Tula imported by Bell (from Frontier)

First impressions:

Forced match stock and trigger group. The rest are natural matches.
Nice dark birch stock in very nice condition.
Great bore! Immaculate.
Painted bolt and carrier. :( Even the firing pin is painted (at least the exposed parts)
Everything seams tight.

I'm happy about the condition of the bore and stock.
I don't like all the black paint (I'll probably be changing all that)

I just have to find out how it shoots now.

I'll post some pics later or tomorrow.

I tried my NcStar receiver cover scope mount on it, it fits nice and tight and feels very stable. It isn't stable on my Chinese SKS despite machining it to fit. Range time will be the true test of that scope mount on the Russian though.

It may not be the perfect SKS but it's my SKS. :)

PICS:

Not many people got matching serial numbers on everything huh? I guess I should feel lucky.
I was starting to think matching serial numbers were a dime a dozen.

Except for the stock mine has all matching numbers. The trigger, mag, bolt and bolt cover all match. Also the stock is Tula (Star and arrow). A nice piece of history.

I fired my unissued\matching serials 1955 SKS not too long ago...
I put 20 rounds of non-corrosive ammo through it... and that's all it's ever gonna see.

...Maybe. Probably.
