Russian SKS45 long thread.

My new 50 Tula has a chromed bore; from the KB I learned that they started chrome plating the barrels in 51-52.
That means, the gun was rebarreled? If so, how can I tell?
Or, they chromed the barrels earlier in the productiion run.

i guess not... i'm still waiting and definetly not holding my breath. if it comes great. if not then i'll have a case of ammo to shoot through a buddy's gun

wow i can't believe no one posted in here in almost 28 hours
 
I was talking to Gary from Lock, Stock and Barrel today.
He said that Bell is now out of their SKS's, it seems that one dealer cleaned them out.
(he thought it might be Wolverine, but was not sure)

Is there any way you can find out where they went?

I am waiting for one from Moving Target. I would like to find out where we can get another 2 or 3.
 
I thought that SIR/Cabelas was originally planning to get theirs from Bell, then switched to IZH after all the delays.
Am i mistaken/confused?


Also, it seems that the few unissued ones are from IZH. Did Bell get any unissued ones?

my understanding was they did not switch but instead added another supplier.

nice lady on the phone said there will be two pricing, bell will be $169 and new supplier will be from $214.99 .

I got exact same response from SIR/Cabela, so it is a generic reply. However, I did call them and talked to someone. He basically said no news. Had no idea when they may be coming in. But he did mention that in his opinion, this SKS thing has gone "Silly"! :p

He really does have a point though....don't you think? Just look at posts from people who apparently have a bunch but are still trying to get 2-3 more!
