Russian SKS45 long thread.

anyone have any inside knowledge on the Calgary gun show this weekend? I would really like to pick up a SKS sight tool (since Im apparently too lazy to call tradex :) )

I should take my camera, so I can get pics of the ridiculous prices for rusty scrap metal.

Here is my el cheapwad front sight tool. 2 flat washers, 1 -3/8 bolt and nut, and 2 small pieces of flat iron. Maybe $1.00 in material and 10 minutes time. Works great for SKS and CZ 858. If you can't find a front sight tool you could consider making your own. I haven't got a handle on my new camera yet so excuse the picture, and no laughing at the welds:D.

You may be out of luck as far as a sight tool. I searched all over Calgary and found absolutely nothing. I ended up ordering mine from Tradex.
If you do happen to find one at the Gun Show, it will probably be about $40.
I was thinking of taking a couple of my Russian's and listing them there for $800. I would probably get it, because the guy that would be next to me will have an old rusty piece of crap he calls an antique for $900.:D

Post your thoughts and some pics of those high priced "antiques" for all of us to ohhh and awww over....

definately will.... I already charged the batteries for my camera (Im sure they will end up dieing on me after 5 pictures now that I've said that)

Im crossing my fingers that Wolverine will be there this year with a bucket of sight tools for no more than $20 each. Part of me wants to find a rifle to buy thats a decent price, just so I can walk back to my truck with it, and cause urban panic from the yuppies living in the condos near the saddledome, lol

I was using a C-clamp to do the same, until I managed to break it :)

if I cant find a pre-made tool, I'll try and rig up something like youve made, although I dont know if my arc welder will cut it, I've never had much luck welding anything more than sheet metal

Don't be so cheap...Call TRADEX and order one. It also does the elevation adjustment. 2 tools in one.

God, now I sound like Curtton...
