Russian SKS45 long thread.

May I ask a question? Which bolt is better, Stainless steel or Black (unknown metal to me), or does it mater?
--- All the same metal, Paintball. ------ Bright bolts look nicer, black bolts are just painted, when they were refurbed , they will clean up nice, just use paint stripper, then buff them up either way your good to go :)!!

I hate that guy!!!!!:p

Nice M1917, Garand, and M1 Carbine.

Thanks but it's a 1919A4 not 1917

--- Thats one Sweet Garand, #1 !!! ----- I have one I picked up from SIR several years ago, actually in nice shape, waiting along with several Mauser,s, Enfields etc; for a complete going over and if it turns out looking as Nice as that one of yours, I More when Happy :)!!! ------ Again " Nice " !!!

I've had that Garand for close to 20 yrs . Paid $175.00 from a dealer back then , It's a 1950 Springfield that started as a M1C . Receiver has the orig mounting for the M1C scope mount , Also has the M1C prong flash hider but it's not on the gun in the pic.

PS: I guess we better get back to the SKS's before Lord Curtton starts wielding his magical powers & starts to delete these post !
Still waiting for that nice girl to post her pic (Bikini) with her SKS's:D

Well, looks like I bought yet another SKS.
This one doesn't have a single ding on the stock and all the serials match... I think I'll just sleep with it tonight.

I just got an M14S in the mail today, I need to have a shoot off between it and my two russians

//cant wait

Its action doesnt feel as nice as the SKSs though, and it looks overly complicated compared to the simplicity of the SKS

Seems I'm a year late to this party. Anybody wanna do a quick recap? lol

I'm very interested in an SKS, always had an affinity for the Russian military pieces. Came into the game too late to get an AK, so I'll work it another way, starting with the SKS, then onto the CZ858 and then the VZ.

So, what's the word on cheap SKS's? I've looked at the sponsor's sites and the EE, but I'm a sucker for a deal.

That and they seem to vary in quality and I wanna know what to look out for. No sense in buying something that's gonna take a mint to get to where it should be.

Best Deal I have found is Leverarms in B.C.

You are right. They do vary in quality a lot. I own two and I have seen a bunch. From what I hear, Lever's are mixed quality and not necessarily the best quality.

If I were you, i would spend $50 more and order from Trade Ex or Frontier. They tell you what grade you are getting.

I agree. The one I got from Lever Arms had a mixture of parts from different years. I only got it for fun shooting so it didn't matter.

I like to tinker and upgrade, but in this case I don't want to be tracking down too many parts. Do the rifles from Frontier and Trade Ex come packed with Cosmoline?

No Cosmoline on IZH stock but light gun oil. Some traces of Cosmo in hard to reach places. I theorized that at some point, they were cleaned and oiled.

Just got this from Lever Arms along with a crate of Czech surplus M43. Great deal/special they have going on, if you are thinking of getting an SKS, I say don't wait any longer.

Curtton I have spent some time reading your SKS thread, and even though Lever Arms has the lower quality SKS's, I think this gun is superb and a very good priced rifle -- bright shiny bore, not many dings/scratches, and came with good condition accessories. I wonder if anyone else who ordered from Lever Arms also had forced stampings on the the side of the mag, as the bottoms had been covered up by the pin job.
