i think sfrc has them for $259.

You can install a repro mount as you have the grooves, but without the sniper notch ive heard they dont hold zero well, but I personally dont know.

Since the rifle dont have the top notch, repro mount could be possibly secured using set screws. This way, rifle is not altered. I heard about someone on Gunboard doing that but dont have pictures.

not really as most people dont put repro scopes on, and original is $$$ and youd still need the notch.

so to 99% of people grooves dont add value

Some rifles without the groove are actually less common. Rifles were standard with groove's untill early 1942. The Soviets then gave up on the SVT sniper program and most rifles 1942 onwards either have or do not have the grooves.
An early Tula rifle without grooves dated 1940 or 1941 is hard to come by (luckily I own that variation - 1941 Tula).

The scope would fit on the side grooves but you need the notch on top of the reciever to be an authentic sniper. PS still has one or two for $400.

Weimar has some nice SVT's, not cheap $350 but most are nice and without repairs.

I recently recieved a repro mount for one of my authentic SVT snipers. If one had a standard rifle, they could mount the scope and use a drill press to make the securing notch. This would modify the rifle, but then again the Soviets already messed with these rifles so who cares as long as you don't try to Hump it as a legit sniper?

Cheers

I got one from Weimajack, it sadly has the import mark. Quite small and unobtrusive as far is import markings go. Just small stamps, no electro pencil.

Wow - that is the longest stock repair I have ever seen on an SVT40!

P&S used to sell an aftermarket aluminum scope mount that didn;t require the notch - not sure if he still has any.

If you got a repro mount, the receiver could be altered by any competent gunsmith with a milling machine - no big deal.

Usually on the top of the reciever, an example "UN DEC 06", all the snipers from PS have the import mark, so does Weimar and TradeEX. I think that Weimar probably gets his firearms from TradeEX and as he is also out of Quebec he can hand pick from the stock (my theory at least). I know TradeEX sells to many other dealers accross the country.
I have a TT33 with the an Import marking but on the side of the frame, it is much smaller and less noticable.
I like the US import marks on the barrel more, especially on the SVT as the marking appears just below the Arsenal markings and kind of ruins the look of a rifle.
Ultimately they are refurb rilfes and similar to RC K98's, they are still neat and pack lot's of history.

P&S and other dealers have been offering rifles with the UN-complaint export marks (from Germany) since at least 2006. They look like this:

The marks in question are the circle with SSC in it and the DE09 mark.
