I am going to go out on a Limb and say the OP has some yellow tipped ammo. Which is not tracer but heavy ball ammo. I don't remember if it is 184 grain or 203 but I have shoot a bit of it in my SVT-40.

Maybe to you they are useless, thankfully not everyone thinks like you. Tracers are much fun when fired in a safe manner to avoid starting fires.
