Just got myself this rifle. Seems like ok shooter, superheavy barrel and featherlight trigger. There is one puzzle though - seems like one part is missing, something that was supposed to be sort of feeding ramp. When I open action there is nothing to put round into - I pretty much have to insert round right into chamber. And then when I open again after shot - spent case is not ejected but rather fall right in front of bolt face. Is there schematics for this rifle anywhere online? I just want to know what is missing and how does it look like.

Thanx everybody

sorry for crappy quality - this is my cellphone. I am not sure what is missing if anything but I think there was supposed to be some kind of feeding ramp

Targets rifles generally do not have ramps, you are meant to feed the cartridge into the chamber by hand. It prevents damage to the soft lead bullet.

I think annies have some kind of groove where you simply lay the bullet and close bolt. Main problem is not feeding but extraction, it simply will not eject but extract and drop bullet in front of bolt. Then I have to tilt rile and shake the case out.

I got this one from that store in Surrey I have trouble remembering name - the one on 104th. Consignment sale, somebody's trouble is now mine, nothing unusual.

Take the bolt out and see if there is clearence for a ramp.
if the bottom of the bolt is round and no cut out, is will have to
be fed by hand.

Hunter's?

Can you please post a photo of the front of the bolt. That is what will show if there is any clearance for a ramp. The rifle you have is an URAL just like the name says. It is not an SM-2 (although the stock on the later SM-2's is the same as on the original URAL). The Russian "C" is an S. Apart from that, in competiton, you would not fire more than about 1 shot per minute, so ejection beyond the rifle is not necessary. It pollutes the environment anyway. Rifles without ramps include the Winchester 52, the Strela (MTS-12), and a bunch of other fine rifles. I had an URAL several years ago, and it had a ramp, but the ejection did not spit out the round anyway. The present version is the URAL 6-1, 6-2, and 5-1. The mechanism today is quite different than in the old models. Soviet guns like the URAL were built for competative target shooting; not public sales. They were all very well made and quite accurate. You could probably put a ramp in the gun if the bottom of the bolt is cut away suffuciently. Otherwise, it would probably work the way it is. Parts for these guns would likely have to be hand-made, since that model ended production in 1978 (according to the book I have).

Smaly, I think you maybe right, I cannot see where feeding ramp would fit in there. I got used to shooting it the way it is.

Schultz & Larson M70's are the same deal......feed by hand, extractor with no ejector....which is perfectly OK on a target rifle.

My Remington Model 41 Targetmaster is the same way, rounds must be fed into the chamber by hand(no ramp..?) But, the Targetmaster has an extractor AND an ejector.
