Russian Winchester 1895s

Mine in .303 British shot an .88 three shot group with irons at 100 yards recently.Still working on loads.Ken Waters 95 in 30-40 Krag out shot the military bolt action in the same caliber. No they wouldn't make a gun club.Granted there's the foot long bayonet.

Russia sent 18,000 Winchesters to Spain in 1936 as military aid to the Republicans. There were two documented shipments of 9,000 and there may have been more.

Tony:
Was that the March 11 1936 shipment on the 9,000 Winchesters from Russia?

I saw a couple of crates full of the Winchesters in Finland some years ago. Along with new, in the crate Colt "Potato diggers" in 7.62 in Russia as well. They never chucked a thing.

Russia melted guns after 1918 and 1945 to make other things. WW2 surplus was melted to make domestic items.

You can buy Imperial Russian Winchester muskets in the USA. They show up at gun shows from time to time and online. There was one for sale at a U.S. dealer site less than a year ago.

Expensive though.

The Finns rebored /rebarrelled some to 9.3x54R/9.3x53R for hunting .They are quite popular over there.............Harold

Here is one for sale from a reputable Finnish dealer that I purchased from when I lived there in the 90s:

This one is selling for 544 CAD and is in 8.2x53R. Note that there are rebarreled Mosins listed in the same caliber.

Hmm, I wonder what the paperwork would be to get it over here.

450 euro. With paperwork and permits it will be close to 600-650 Canadian

The real deal sells from $1500 to $3000 in the USA depending on condition. And in 7.62x53R (54R) not 8.2x53R.
