I shot about 80rnds of wolf hollow point out of my sks. I noticed two things, first it shot to the left of the sights & second, the red primer sealer worked into the firing pin & damm near locked it up. I wouldn't mind trying some of their fmj.
I've been shooting it for years in an SKS and a Ruger Mini-30. No problems. Even tried some of their 158 gn soft points for deer. Excellent! Also shoot Wolf 223 out of a Mini-14 and an AR-15 without problems. My 9mm Inglis Browning and my P-38 love Wol Ammo too! Too bad it's not sold in Canada!
I remember reading in another thread somewhere that the reason we can't get Wolf 7.62x39 up here in Kanaduh is because it's not approved (by the CFC or whatever), and since the approval costs $5000 or some other stupid amount, nobody's willing to shell out to get it done Maybe I should start a separate thread for this, but why don't a bunch of us chip in and try to get it approved? I'd throw $50 or $100 at it, and if 50 people throw in $100 that makes $5000, bada-bing, bada-boom! I dunno what's involved, can anyone else who's "in the bizness" shed some light on the process, and whether or not this idea is feasible (or whether I'm off my rocker and should shut my big yap )???
I'm sure once the other CaRp gets close to running out that some dealer will jump on the Wolf ammo supply...they would make the $5.000 back in no time.
Also now is the time to get your 7.62x39 reloading dies, and Brass!
I have used wolf x39 FMJ in my SKS and it worked perfectly. The firing pin on my sks really pounded the primers though, they looked as if they were almost totally popped out of the fired casings.
I'm really surprised the big ammo companies in the USA haven't jumped on this, and tooled up for some serious production.
BTW: muh-muh-muh-mauser, I was just reading in the 2006 Gun digest that CCI has new Primers that are meant for Semi autos...something called arsenal primers, or some such thing.
