Well folks there we have it. I work in the Automated RTK Machine Control/Survey industry and as of today, the Russians have now decided to screw with the signals that emit from their GLONASS satellites. Effectively rendering many/geological measurements for every project from pipelines to schoolyards to your new house useless. Any land surveys that were done yesterday will need to be redone tomorrow and RTK accuracy will be greatly effected now as we in this field have came to depend on the extra birds in the sky that the Russkies have let us use up to know.

With this I ask...."what's next?"

If you live in the North.....Sharpen the knives, load your mag's, clean your barrels and keep your powder dry.....

Crappy deal!

They probably just did a general civilian scramble since they are in a state of high alert. Or it could be their twist on reciprocating the sanctions. I don't see how they could just scramble the signal over a single region. Another option is just a technical malfunction. Just gonna have to make-do with Navstar only.

interesting.

prolly the wrong section to post this. isnt there a tinfoil hat section LOL

According to media reports , Russia has pulled back some of their troops from the Ukraine border , and NATO has toughened its stance in regards to Russia.....who is going to blink first ?

Damn that sucks... i guess i will get used to hearing the Trimble say "poor pdop"

oh wait actually accuracy is just fine with a minimum of 5 American gps satellites. april fools

Hmm ya tough question. Which one had a history of never blinking or backing down? Which one has a history of always backing down and encouraging others to do nothing? I'm sure the Russians fear a strong UN finger wagging.

Initialization gained, initialization lost, initialization gained, initialization lost, initialization gained, initialization lost. Poor Pdop would be a nice change.
