Russia's New Assault Rifle "Kalashnikov AK-12"

If its based on the AK-47 Action, it will likely just end up on the prohibited list like any gun with an AR action regardless of its actual use. Cool looking gun though.

What ever happened to the AN-94? Did that ever see serious service?

Probably very limited.

Anyway, it's not written in stone that the AK-12 will become the new standard issue rifle, at least in all branches of the Russian forces. There are two other infantry rifle designs appearantly being considered, an updated version of the AEK-971 {the AN-94 competitor} and the ADS.

that thing looks like sh*t. they put no frikken thought into the design at all, but, as long as it's reliable, who cares - it does it's job.

But it's ugly as sin, looks like they just slapped on a few rails and voila! a new gun!
