Russkie SKS refurb, front sight painted shut?

as topis states, my front sight is a total bch to adjust and i dont want to break the adjustment tool. are these things painted shut?

Propane torch and heat up your front sight "abit" , then turn

I don't have a propane torch or access to one. Has anyone tried a heat gun on high (that I DO have :) and how'd it work?

Heat gun wont work, Goto crappy tire and buy one there dirt cheap and good for alot of things.

I bent my adjustment tool and ended up using some WD 40 plus a hammer and punch to loosen it. It moves now.

It took some pretty good whacks though.

+1 there's the mini ones that look like a lighter. good survival source of flame.

"...don't have a propane torch or..." The whole kit runs about $15 at Crappy Tire. Maybe a bit less at Princess Auto. Handy thing to have even if you're not mucking with sights.
