......Got em both! :dancingbanana:In my new used rifle. Everything on the outside of the rifle (old-ass husq.) is....fine I guess, a bit of blu worn thin. I took the barrel off to give everything a once over and a wicked cleaning. That's where i found em. On the underside of the barrel, nestled away under the forend. Two concentrated dime sized spots of pitting coated with really crumbly dry rust. I think i can deal with the rust and rebluing, but about the dime sized pitting? Any suggestions? Do i just clean it up, or is there a way to fix the pitting (ie: can it be polished or sanded away) without taking it to the smith's?...(Oh, and incidently who do you guys like for smiths in Edmonton area?)

Thx.

Personally I would give the spots a good cleaning and de-scaling, oil well, re-assemble and enjoy - no one will be the wiser but you. That's a risk you always take on an older, used gun. --- John 303.

X2, there's no advantage to grinding or removing more metal. Clean it well, use an anti rust agent and you're good to go.
