Blauber, what product did you use for this project; Or did you use a DIY mix? I have only been able to find a couple of commerical rust blues in Canada. Laurel Mtn Forge being one.

Interested to know what others have tried as well and how it turned out.

It was a DIY mix-my brother made it. He still has the recipe but found it on the internet (I don't have it here). The chemicals had to be bought at a specialty shop-Nitric Acid, and Hydrochloric (either in % strength or molarity).

He also put in either an old iron horseshoe or old iron nails into the acid mix. There must be copper sulphate in it as well, so you can see where you apply the final solution. It may be called Neider's formula-PM me if you really need it and I will see if he can dig it up.
