Hi folks,

Does it make a difference if your card the black oxyde with a steel wool instead of a wire wheel? My finish is kind of a "Mat" blue instead of a polish one.

Thanks for the info

Should work fine just make sure the steel wool is oil free.
I've never tried rust bluing but it seems like a good way to go just a little more time consuming...

Yanick, was the bare steel highly polished before you rusted? Surface prep plays a big factor but rust blue is never a high gloss finish.

Steel wool is fine for scratching the black rust off. But it needs to be prepared before use. Just wash it out in isopropynol or laquer thinners to remove all traces of oil.
