I bought a 700 in 22-250 and didn't notice the spots of rust until I got home. Anyone have a remedy to get rid of the spots?

lots of gun oil... Is it a newer SPS finish? My hunting buddy has an 870 shotgun with the same finish, it was completely covered in rust spots by sitting in his safe with a dehumidifier before he ever even got it into the field. A week of hunting didn't help it at all

cerakote. the sps finish is crap. m308 sps tactical started to rust in the safe. the only rifle to do so. cerakote fixed the rust issues and looks a lot better.

I have had several SPS Remington's and NONE of them have even hinted at rusting. Use a good rust inhibitor. I use CorossionX or Frog Lube. Do not use chain oil, ATF, etc.

Sps has the absolute worst finish on the market along with the express. I couldn't take it any more and sold the few that I had. Lots of care and attention with rem oil monthly to bi monthly is all I could do to keep from rusting. Good luck, I feel your pain.

Rem oil sucks. To be honest.

My SPS barrelled action. This thing has been soaking wet several times from melting snow. Not a speck of rust on it. Use good products for good results.
