Sorry, I'm not sure if this is the right section for this. Took a look at my TT33 today. I hadn't taken it out for about a month and it's got rust all over it. What can I do to get rid of the rust spots and protect it from developing them again without causing too much harm to the remaining finish?

It sounds thinly finished to me. Whatever bluing or phosphate finish is too thin and isn't 'holding' the oil very well.
For deep storage of guns I know I won't be using for a while, and which might benefit from some deliberate rust-attack, I use RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease). Mine is a yellow/orange box with tinfoil tube inside. It might be Hoppes. It is a waxy sticky grease about the consistency of Vaseline.
